Last year I bought two cloves of elephant garlic.  We enjoyed one very delicious head of home-grown garlic over the summer and I saved the second for planting.  Unfortunatly I sortof forgot about it until I ran across it in the pantry the other day.

Am I too late to plant it?  Last year I put them out in November and harvested in June.

Ok, I'm a dufus, someone posted a thought about growing a gaerlic and ginger garden indoors, it's a great idea but I forgot why it was so great, I already started one, so I am telling others asbout it, can the OP tell me more?

I just wanted to share some photos of my small square-foot garden and take the opportunity to also ask for some advice.

If it looks like my garden is way behind, that's because it is. :/ It's only gotten fairly consistently warm in the Seattle area about a week or two ago. It's now in the 80s; before, we were in the 60s. /sad face

My cousin and I are growing garlic for the first time. The other day she asked me, "So have you stopped giving your garlic water yet?" And I said no, because the leaves hadn't turned brown yet. I have no idea what garlic scapes look like. I've noticed something on the garlic that don't look like the other leaves, but I don't know that they're scapes either. I figure I should find out for sure, because I guess I'm supposed to cut them... or not... I still haven't figured that out yet. So any advice there? Are those scapes, and if not, ( Read more... )
